Kitchen-hallway design in a townhouse

Usually designers try to combine the kitchen with the living room or the dining room while re-planning a house. However, we made a different decision in a townhouse and combined the kitchen with the hall. It was the owner’s wish. You can see special features of this kitchen-hallway in the presented pictures.

Unusual approach to the kitchen design

The combination of the kitchen and the hallway enabled us to get a large room which is equally comfortable for cooking and getting ready before going out. This design project includes two areas that do not intersect with each other due to a properly installed kitchen island, an overhanging lamp and differences in the ceiling design in these two functional areas.

The private architecture studio of Ruslan and Maria Green set compact kitchen cabinets with built-in appliances. Their small width allowed them to save space and visually lifted the ceiling.

The hallway design has only one piece of furniture – a soft, small sofa. There is a built-in closet for coats and shoes.

When working on this interior design, we decided to implement it in soft beige tones since they have a calming effect on people and visually expand the space. However, our designers decided not to limit themselves to a monochromatic palette and instead dilute it juicy, contrasting colors. In this kitchen- hallway they are the dark brown shade of the table and the pale blue color of the couch.
